Devin Haney: Adrien Broner Would Look Good on my Résumé

WBC lightweight champion “In recess” Devin “The Dream” Haney (24-0, 15ko) is eager to fight anyone and has been looking for a big fight. The youngest promoter in boxing, while recovering from a shoulder surgery, has been very vocal about fighting rising prospect Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (20-0, 17ko).

In a recent interview with Fighthype, Haney claimed he wants to come back and make a splash in a big fight.

“I don’t know. At this point, it’s so many big fights that can be made, I’ve been begging for these big fights. I don’t know who yet, but someone big. I’m ready for these big fights, I’m anxious, I want them to happen.”

Haney went into deep detail about how big fights, if made, don’t need a belt to be involved.

“Of course belts matter in boxing. You want to become a champion, but at the end of the day, I want a big fight to happen. A fight so big that a belt doesn’t matter.

If me and Ryan Garcia fought right now, belt or not, the fight would be huge. Me and AB fight right now, it would be huge.”

Now, whenever you mention Adrien Broner it doesn’t stop there. It has been a very public back-and-forth between these two fighters.

Haney would touch on the issues of the former four-divisional champion making weight while acknowledging the “Brush My Hair” boxer’s accomplishments and making a strong statement about the outcome if they fight.

“He talking about he can make 135lbs, he looks like he’s 200lbs. I don’t think he can make it anytime soon.

His profile is huge, you can’t take that away from him, I don’t care whoever AB fights, they are going to tune in because of his antics and what he brings to the table.

His profile would look good on my resume and he’ll make a lot of money fighting me. I like him, but I will FUCK HIM UP, and his résumé and what he brings to the table would look good on my résumé.”
