Devin Haney Accuses Floyd Mayweather of Turning on Him!

Reaction continues following the leaked video of a sparring session between Devin “The Dream” Haney and the reigning WBA lightweight champion Abdul “Tank” Wahid, formerly known as Gervonta Davis. Is Hall of Famer Floyd Mayweather the person who is behind the video? According to Haney, that’s the case.

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) will defend the WBC junior welterweight title against “King” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) on April 20 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Rivals going back to their amateur days, the trash talk between Haney and Garcia has been quite heated.

On his social media, Garcia released a video of the sparring session between Haney and Tank where Wahid was getting the better of The Dream. In response, Haney went to social media blasting Mayweather and accused Money of supplying Garcia with the video.

Haney’s accusations have some credibility. The sparring session with Wahid occurred when Haney was a teenager at The Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas. Over the past few months, Mayweather has also served as an advisor and mentor to Garcia. Ironically, Money Mayweather served the same role for Haney early in his career.

It would not be above Mayweather if he did this. Insiders know that the multi-divisional world champion can be petty, especially when you fall out of his favor or tick him off. Whether he supplied Garcia with the video and nudged him to release it to the masses, it has all made for the kind of spectacle that’s typical of a daytime soap opera or night-time reality show.

Friendships can be a fickle thing in this sport. Such is the now sour relationship between two-division champion Devin “The Dream” Haney and his former mentor, Mayweather.
