Hardy defeats Vincent again!
At Madison Square Garden in NYC, Hardy defeats Vincent by unanimous decision (97-93 twice, 99-91) to win the vacant WBO Featherweight title.
The two fought in August of 2016 with Hardy winning by Majority Decision. There was plenty of bad blood between the two ladies during the lead up to the fight and from the opening bell they fought like they did not like each other.
The taller and naturally bigger Hardy settled down and started to box Vincent by the second in round. She used better footwork to not only create angles for jabs and combination punches, but also continued to catch her opponent with excellent right hands to the body from mid-range.
Whenever Vincent tried to rally, she would respond to stay ahead. That was the pattern of the first half of the fight.
Over the second half, Hardy began to add the counter right uppercut to her attack. She suffered two cuts over her left eye (both a result of accidental headbutts), but stayed in control by using effective movement and countering Vincent to coast to victory.
Overall, this is a really solid win for the fighter from Brooklyn. The rematch win was much more conclusive and emphatic than their previous meeting, leaving no doubt as to who is the better fighter.
