Hearn Confident That Raymond Ford Takes Victory Over Nick Ball

Matchroom Boxing’s chairman, Eddie Hearn, expects WBA featherweight champion Raymond “Savage” Ford (15-0-1, 8KO) to put on a spectacular performance against Nick Ball (19-0-1, 11KO).

On June 1, boxing fans will witness the upcoming Five versus Five featuring Hearn’s top guys against rival promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions. One of the fights on that card pits two young, undefeated fighters against each other with the title on the line.

HE ANTICIPATES A SENSATIONAL PERFORMANCE

While speaking with the media, an enthusiastic Hearn expressed belief that the WBA champion will put on a show.

“Ray Ford is one of my favorite fighters . . . I promised him, ‘You know if you do everything you say you can do, I’ll guide you to a world championship’.”

“He also has a very tough fight against Nick Ball coming up. I believe he wins that fight in style, and I believe, after that, we bring him home.”

Savage is beaming with confidence after scoring a sensational come-from-behind twelfth-round stoppage over Otabek Kholmatov for the vacant WBA title. Looking to make his first title defense, Ford is gunning for the knockout against Ball.

On March 8, Ball should have gotten the nod over WBC champion Rey Vargas but had to settle for a draw. Knowing Vargas wasn’t going to give him a rematch, the Brit is getting a second bite at the championship apple.

With a card already stacked with good fights and big names, Ford versus Ball has the potential to steal the show. Both men are hungry to prove themselves in a classic tale of champion versus challenger.
