Hearn Expects Joshua’s Next Fight To Be Announced Within A Week

Joshua/Parker Announcement Could Come Soon

3 Kings Boxing reported earlier, according to sources close to the negotiations, that an announcement should be coming inthe next 10-14 days for a unification fight between WBA & IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and WBO champion Joseph Parker. Now Joshua’s promoter,Eddie Hearn, has revealed that the UK star could have his next fight confirmed within a week as a deal with the New Zealand native edges closer.

Joshua defended his WBA and IBF heavyweight titles against Carlos Takam in Cardiff on28 Octoberand is set for his next fight.

We feel like there is a deal that can be in place with Parker and his team within the next week or so,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “There’s a good chance [Parker’s promoter] David Higgins will fly over in the next week to try and close the deal.”

“Sometimes when you’re this close you need to get face-to-face and eye-to-eye. Work on it, keep talking, no one goes home until you make the deal”

Joshua has stated that his desire is to become the first heavyweight ever to hold all four major titles at one time. This fight would be a good start towards that goal and would leave only the winner and WBC champion Deontay Wilder holding a title in the heavyweight division. A fight with Wilder is the clash that most fans want to see but Hearn says that the American and his team are simply asking for too much money.

There are two perfect fights for AJ – Parker and Deontay Wilder. The Wilder fight is unrealistic because of what they want.”
