Eddie Hearn threatens legal action if Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury rubber match happens!
I know we’re a ways off from a potential Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury rubber match, but that didn’t stop Eddie Hearn from letting it be known that he will not allow it.
If you’re wonder why he would try to prevent it, here’s your answer. For your information, no it doesn’t involve former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Dillian Whyte who has been the WBC mandatory challenger for 580 days without yet receiving the opportunity to challenge Wilder, is the reason for Hearn threatening legal action.
Whyte will be taking on Oscar Rivas July 20 for the interim WBC heavyweight title and mandatory spot according to Hearn.
We here at 3kingsboxing.com previously reported not only is Wilder vs Fury 2 set, but that a third fight between the two is planned.
This all according to Bob Arum.
In a recent interview with IFLTV, Hearn was asked about this very topic and quickly dismissed it.
“Its not allowed because there is going to be a serious legal position for Dillian Whyte. He is fighting Oscar Rivas, that’s for the interim world title.
“The offer from the WBC is for the interim world title and the mandatory position! There will be serious issues if that mandatory is not when we want that it to be.”
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
