Eddie Hearn Teases Josh Kelly vs Conor Benn Title Fight in 2026
Plans are being made for IBF 154-pound champion Josh “Pretty Boy” Kelly which involve some big names. However, he could make the most lucrative decision and face stablemate Conor “The Destroyer” Benn next. This idea was introduced by Eddie Hearn, Chairman of Matchroom Boxing. While speaking with iFL TV, he mentioned a few names that interest Team Kelly, including The Destroyer.
“We got some brilliant momentum on our team, and that puts him in line for some massive, massive fights…they also like the Conor Benn fight. The whole world likes the Conor Benn fight, because obviously it brings a huge amount of noise.”
A FIGHT WORTH MAKING
The Destroyer is coming off a huge rematch victory against arch-nemesis Chris Eubank Jr. Despite wanting to compete at welterweight, he could be lured into taking the fight, considering it would be for another huge payday and world title shot. A fight of this magnitude could be hosted at the famous Wembley Stadium to maximize profits.
Kelly is riding a wave of confidence after proving the critics wrong by defeating former champion Bakhram Murtazaliev on January 31. Looking forward, a victory over Benn would make him a made man among the fans in the U.K.
Benn has good reflexes and, when focused, can be a hard fighter to deal with. He’s very athletic and would have a slight power advantage over Kelly. Pretty Boy, on the other hand, is a better defensive fighter with superior boxing skills. In addition, he would enjoy the height and reach advantage.
It’s going to be interesting to see how things play out. Like Hearn said, this would be a massive fight in the United Kingdom.
