Could Amir Khan vs Kell Brook finally happen?

Boxing fans have been teased about an all-UK showdown between Amir Khan and Kell Brook. After years of bad blood between the two, are we on the verge of of this fight finally occurring?

Eddie Hearn of Matchroom sat down with Sky Sports on September 18. During the interview, Hearn expressed he’s still keen on making a Khan – Brook fight.

“I still want to make that fight. I’ll give it one more roll of the dice, I will tell them, ‘Guys, spring 2020, let’s do it’. Hopefully we can get it over the line.”

In response to Hearn, Amir Khan told PepTalkUK “I think it’s a great idea.”

Khan believes he and Brook should each return to the ring in separate bouts towards the end of the year. He also said his team has been in discussions with Eddie Hearn, as well Brook’s representatives, and hopefully they can make it happen.

This is not the first time that Khan and Brook have tried to make a bout happen. However, in the past, there has always been a snag during negotiations. The last time these two tried to make a fight was in 2018, but negotiations fell by the wayside when Khan accepted an offer to fight Terence Crawford.

A fight between Khan and Brook is still pretty significant in the UK, and given that neither fighter is considered among the “it” names of the sport or a world champion, now may be a better time than ever for this fight to finally happen.
