Miller will end a nearly two year PED induced layoff on July 9

Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (23-0-1, 20KOs) is set to finally return to the ring after a nearly two-year absence. This comes after the Nevada State Athletic Commission approved his license. This will be Miller’s first fight since he defeated Bogdan Dinu (19-2, 15KOs) in November of 2018.

His return will take place on July 9 in his Top Rank debut possibly against Jerry Forrest (26-3, 20KOs).

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Miller, who was set to challenge unified heavyweight champion Anthony “A.J” Joshua (23-1, 21KOs) in June of 2019. However, that all went down the drain after the New York native failed multiple PED tests. The opportunity would go to Andy Ruiz (33-2, 22KOs), who went on to pull off a major upset, stopping Joshua in seven rounds.

WHERE DOES MILLER FIT IN TODAY’S HEAVYWEIGHT PICTURE?

The talkative Miller will no doubt want to reclaim his position and challenge for a heavyweight title. However, we must ask: will he be same fighter now that he’s not on the PED’s he was popped for leading up to the Joshua fight?

Miller was known for his impressive stamina and punch output considering, he’s a 300lbs plus heavyweight.

How will he fare against the likes of Deontay Wilder, Michael Hunter, Joesph Parker, Dillian Whyte, Oscar Rivas and Oleksandr Usyk if matched up with them on even playing fields? That’s to be determined if those fights come to fruition.

One thing that is for sure is that he has a lot of work to do to not only get the respect of his peers and fans back, but also position himself for another world title opportunity.
