Eddie Hearn wants to hijack the Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury trilogy!
The much anticipated mega rematch saw former unified heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (30-0-1, 21ko) brutally capture both the WBC and RING titles after defeating Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-1-1, 41ko) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
While fans are celebrating in the streets of the UK and on the Vegas strip, there is one person that is keeping an eye on the ball. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn isn’t wasting any time and looking to strike while the iron is hot!
The British boxing promoter immediately took to twitter and is calling for a fight for undisputed.
Alright now lets pump the brakes! Although most people feel that after a devastating beating like this a trilogy isn’t necessary, the fact remains the Alabama power-puncher has an option to request a rematch before any movement can take place.
However, one of the fighters under the DAZN banner, WBC mandatory Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (27-1, 18ko) took exception to being bypassed and informed his promoter that he wants his long-awaited opportunity.
It has been a long frustrating journey for the Body Snatcher and he has expressed that if Fury wins, a fight is not guaranteed. Moreover, the WBC mandatory has a very good point if Wilder decides to forgo the third bout then the focus will shift toward a huge mega-fight in the UK for undisputed.
The next couple of weeks will have every boxing fan and enthusiast on edge waiting to see what will transpire in the heavyweight division.
