Hernandez Could Face Lara Or Bentley In A Title Fight
Middleweight contender Yoenli “El Diablo” Hernandez (11-0, 9 KO’s) bested Francisco Bebu Veron (17-2-1, 10 KO’s) by way of majority decision. The Cuban is in perfect striking range of WBA champion “The American Dream” Erislandy Lara and WBO middleweight champion Denzel Bentley.
Hernandez received scores of 95-95, 98-92 and 99-91 in a less than impressive showing against Veron. Heading into this prizefight, El Diablo held the impressive standings of #1 (WBO), #1(WBA), and #10 (IBF).
Lara nor Bentley has an opponent on the books. Both champions are coming off victories, although Lara has yet to lace up the gloves in 2026. Given this reality, Lara would seemingly be the champion chomping at the bit to get back in the squared-circle.
Yet, there is no guarantee what direction any of these teams will decide to do next. It will be interesting to see how Team Hernandez can parley this latest win into another potentially great bout. Ideally, he would secure a duel with one of the belt holders; if not, what challenge will be chosen to continue his rise up the division?
