Jamel Herring eyeing Carl Frampton and Miguel Berchelt next!
On November 30, WBO junior lightweight champion Jamel “Semper Fi” Herring (21-2, 10ko), was in attendance at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas scouting a possible 2020 showdown against former two-divisional world champion Carl “The Jackal” Frampton (27-2, 15ko). The former champ barely broke a sweat handing the unknown Tyler McCreary his first career defeat.
Although the WBO champion got into the ring after the fight and confronted Frampton, are we sure this fight will be next?
Herring was in the crowd and bumped into hard-punching, WBC champion Miguel Berchelt (37-1, 33ko). The two champions took pictures together for the fans. Afterward, the Mexican champion took to social media asking a question that has added some Mexican hot peppers to the sauce.
The WBC champ asked the boxing community if they want to see a unification. Here is where the plot thickens. A fight with Frampton would undoubtedly be exciting and profitable, but if the opportunity for unification is possible, is it something that could put the primary plans on pause?
The financial potential alone is worth trying to make the fight a possiblilty. The WBO champion isn’t shy at all about facing either man, retweeting what the WBC champion posted along with making sure everyone knows that Frampton can get it in the US or abroad.
This is why boxing has been on fire this year! Looking at the potential fights going into next year, this blaze got more oxygen to keep it burning deep into 2020!
