In the battle of undefeated junior middleweight prospects, Ardreal Holmes (13-0, 5KO) used his reach advantage in defeating Ismael Villarreal (12-1, 8KO). Junior welterweight prospect Kurt Scoby (11-0, 9KO) ran over John Mannu (7-1-1, 4KO) in two quick rounds. Scoby was not playing around as he quickly established the jab and found a home for the right hand. Furthermore, his power was a huge factor as he knocked down Mannu four times in the second round. This prompted the referee to stop the fight after seeing Mannu stretched out on the canvas. This was the type of dominating performance Scoby needed to catch the attention of the boxing community.
