Deontay Wilder Focused On Securing Andy Ruiz Fight
Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (43-2-1, 42KO) fully plans on fighting former unified champion Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz (35-2, 22KO). In July 2022, The Destroyer hinted at wanting to fight The Bronze Bomber after getting past two-time title challenger Luis Ortiz.
This laid the breadcrumbs that excited boxing fans, as both fighters continued to drop the other’s name for the remainder of 2022. Then came the WBC adding even more intrigue to the situation by looking to order the fight as a title eliminator.
There was no doubt about it – Wilder versus Ruiz was inevitable heading into 2023. Recently rumors began to swirl that the fight may be in jeopardy. This was due to the IBF ordering Ruiz to fight top contender Filip Hrgovic.
