Ardreal Holmes Stays Undefeated; Vazquez And Scoby Get Impressive Victories

In the battle of undefeated junior middleweight prospects, Ardreal Holmes (13-0, 5KO) used his reach advantage in defeating Ismael Villarreal (12-1, 8KO). Holmes controlled the fight with his jab for the majority of the contest. He used good footwork to avoid the counter-punches of his opponent. Villarreal mounted a small comeback in the last three rounds, but it seemed to be too little too late. What should have been an easy fight to score had some controversy, as one judge had it 96-94 for Villarreal with the other two turning in 96-94 and 97-93 scores for Holmes. Amid the slight controversy, the right man won.

Featherweight Edward Vazquez (14-1, 3KO) narrowly won an all-action fight against Misael Lopez (14-2, 5KO). These guys were letting their hands go until the final bell. Vazquez gained the early advantage by scoring a knockdown in the second round. However, Lopez fought back hard, digging into the body. With the fight coming to a close, fans were cheering as both men traded big shots to the end. One judge scored it 95-94 for Lopez with the other two scoring it 96-93 and 95-94 for Vazquez. 3Kings Boxing agrees with the last scorecard.

Junior welterweight prospect Kurt Scoby (11-0, 9KO) ran over John Mannu (7-1-1, 4KO) in two quick rounds. Scoby was not playing around as he quickly established the jab and found a home for the right hand. Furthermore, his power was a huge factor as he knocked down Mannu four times in the second round. This prompted the referee to stop the fight after seeing Mannu stretched out on the canvas. This was the type of dominating performance Scoby needed to catch the attention of the boxing community.
