Hunter Loses No Sleep Over Hughie Fury Postponement; Challenges Joseph Parker
Had everything gone according to plan, heavyweight Michael “The Bounty” Hunter (20-1-2, 14 KO’s) would have collided with Hughie Fury (26-3, 15 KO’s) on July 2. Those plans were abruptly cast into limbo when it was announced that Fury was postponing the match due to succumbing to illness. At this point, the nature of the illness itself is undisclosed. Unsurprisingly, Hunter is not buying the explanation and feels that Fury is trying to sidestep a beating.
“Hughie wouldn’t have gotten sick if I fought Hrgovic. All my fault.”

ON TO THE NEXT ONE?!
It’s commonplace for fighters to not believe the reasons that their opponents pull out of a match. Recently, undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo accused Brian Castano of using an injury to scramble for more time. In this instance however, when the original date was pushed back, there was no alternate date supplied. With this being the case, Hunter, who is ranked #2 (WBA), #8 (WBO) and #12 (WBC), has begun sniffing around for a dustup with former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph “Lupesoliai La’auliolemalietoa” Parker (30-2, 21 KO’s).
In the past, Hunter and his team have expressed interest in dueling Parker, who is coming off a hard-fought win over Derek Chisora. Ranked #2 (WBO), #3 (WBC) and #11 (WBA) the jovial New Zealander would make for a suitable replacement. In fact, Parker has already defeated Hughie Fury by way of majority decision back on September 23, 2017. Yet, it’s safe to say that both pugilists have gotten better since that confrontation.
Before we get too hung up on a would-be prizefight between Hunter and Parker though, let’s first get an official update on what’s happening with Hunter and Fury. No matter how it plays out however, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
