Elif Nur Turhan Is Equipped to Dominate at 135

A fighter who has exploded onto the boxing scene is IBF lightweight champion Elif Nur Turhan (12-0, 8 KOs). The Turkish standout may be on track to rule the division and become one of the new faces of women’s boxing. That includes unification bouts with WBC champion Caroline Dubois or WBA champion Stephanie Han. In addition, she could clash with unified junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner in an explosive battle of hard-hitters.

On December 6, Turhan scored a dominant fifth-round stoppage win over Beatriz Ferreira where she captured the IBF lightweight title. The performance was nothing short of emphatic. She dropped Ferreira in the opening round and proceeded to bully the Brazilian with non-stop pressure and brute strength.

Now that she’s a world champion, her promoter, Matchroom, is making it clear: the 30-year-old is ready, willing, and eager to face anyone in or around the 135-pound division.

If her demolition of Ferreira is any indicator, Turhan has all the makings of a long, imposing reign. Aggressive, mean, and strong as a bull, she’s one of the biggest punchers in the sport and has officially put the lightweight division — and all of women’s boxing — on notice.
