Raymond Ford Covets 130-Pound World Title of O’Shaquie Foster
Raymond “Savage” Ford has made his intentions crystal clear — he wants gold at 130 pounds. And the man squarely in his sights is reigning WBC junior lightweight champion O’Shaquie Foster.
In his most recent outing, Ford (18-1-1, 8 KOs) turned in a professional and composed performance, scoring a unanimous decision victory (96-94, 97-93, 97-93) over late replacement Abraham Nova (24-4-1, 17 KOs) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After a cautious start, Ford’s sharp boxing and sustained body attack allowed him to outpoint and outclass his foe over ten rounds.
With Nova behind him, Ford now resumes his pursuit of Foster. The pride of Camden, New Jersey has made no secret of his confidence, repeatedly labeling the champion “easy work” in interviews and on social media.
Word on the street is that Foster will likely head into a showdown with reigning WBC featherweight champion Stephen Fulton next. Should Foster prevail, Ford is hoping to be first in line for the opportunity he’s been chasing.
