Karo Murat vs Sven Fornling for the IBO title
3kingsboxing has learned #3 rated IBO Light-Heavyweight champion Karo Murat (32-3-1 21 KOs) will face #14 rated Swedish fighter Sven Fornling (14-1, 7 KOs).
Murat, 34, is a crafty veteran fighter who, after years of coming up short, finally holds a world title.
The German boxer hasn’t lost a fight since Sullivan Barrera in 2015 and is currently riding a five-fight win streak. A victory here could see him challenge for the IBF title currently held by Artur Beterbiev.
Fornling, 29, is fairly new to the division and currently holds the IBF Baltic Light-Heavyweight title. After suffering his first defeat by Yevgenii Makhteienko in 2016, has been on a four-fight win streak.
A victory in this fight could see him rapidly move up the ladder in the ranking system. This is a huge step up for him and a great opportunity to capture a championship title.
Now, these two combatant are stablemates in EC boxing and have probably sparred several times. This would explain why Fornling feels comfortable with taking this fight.
Meanwhile, Murat will enjoy advantages in experience, power and home town crowd. This is scheduled to take place September 15th in Hansehalle, Luebeck
