Naoya Inoue asks fans to be patient; next fight is close.

Undefeated WBA “regular” bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue took to social media to let fans know a few things.

First, that he’s back in the gym training for his World Boxing Super Series opponent, undefeated IBF Champion Emmanuel Rodriguez. Second and probably most importantly, the fight is close and the details should be decided soon.

One of the main issues was location, with rumors of a fight in either US or Puerto Rico. The WBSS has been great for the lower weight division.

However, it still struggles to gain massive mainstream attention with lack of TV time. Additionally, there have been rumblings of financial issues with the tournament.

Making things even more difficult for fans, some of the fights would take place in different time zones overseas. That could be the reason team Inoue would prefer fighting in the US; hoping to bring more attention to the tournament.

There was an attempt from Top Rank to showcase the fights, but no agreement could be reached.

The Japanese phenom is the favorite to win the tournament. In his first bout, he defeated Juan Carlos Payano; handing him the first knockout loss of his career.

Although nothing has been announced, fans and pundits hope that further confirmation will come by the end of this month.
