Anthony Cacace Desires Emanuel Navarrete’s Championship Titles
Anthony “The Apache” Cacace (25-1, 9KO) is now a two-time 130-pound champion after lifting the WBA Regular title off James “Jazza” Dickens (36-6, 14KO) by unanimous decision. The Apache wasted little time calling out unified champion Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete *40-2-1, 33KO).
Regardless of the scorecards (15-113, 116-113, and 116-112), it was a rather easy fight to score. Cacace used that long jab to control the tempo of the fight from the opening round. Even when Jazza tried to come on in the later rounds, Cacace quickly regained control before the close of the rounds.
In the in-ring, post-fight interview, Cacace made it clear that, despite talks of a fight with contender Ryan Gardner, he wants a unification next.
“All respect to Ryan Gardner, he’s a great up-and-comer. But, I’m looking at bigger names now. I want to unify the division. I want Navarrete next in Saudi Arabia or wherever it is.”
Team Navarrete should start working the phones now to make the fight. Vaquero’s relentless pressure and power can change the course of the fight in the blink of an eye. Moreover, he is a vicious body puncher, which could slow Cacace’s movement.
The Mexican’s only issue would be fighting in Ireland; he could be lured into going to Saudi Arabia for the right price.
