The IBF Could Push Team Spence into Ennis Fight Before Undisputed
Top welterweight contender Jaron “Boots” Ennis (29-0, 27KOs) may finally be approaching his coveted title shot. The IBF is giving unified champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) 120 days to fight Ennis or vacate the belt. Spence’s trainer, Derrick James gave his thoughts on the situation.
Ennis has been on the verge of fighting The Truth for a championship opportunity for a while. He is viewed as an uncrowned champion by several fans and pundits. There is a growing belief within the boxing community that Boots has what it takes to defeat Spence and WBO champion Terence “Bud” Crawford. He gets another chance to validate that argument in his upcoming fight with IBF number-four ranked Karen Chukhadzhian (21-1, 11KOs).
THE IBF COULD FORCE SPENCE VS ENNIS SOONER THAN LATER
Nonetheless, Ennis has been playing the waiting game. In an interview with YSM Sports Media, Ennis’ trainer dropped news of the IBF giving Spence 120 days to fight Boots after the unified champion’s next fight.
“Spence, whoever he fights, he got 120 days to fight Boots or give the title up.”

DERRICK JAMES RESPONDS TO IBF DECISION
Keep in mind, Spence is said to be fighting former unified champion Keith “One Time” Thurman next. This will add extra pressure on the undisputed fight with Crawford to happen as quickly as possible.
While speaking with the media, James was informed about the IBF’s decision and gave a no-nonsense response.
“If that’s what it is, then that’s what it is. If you want to keep that belt, you want to do whatever, you got to do whatever. You got to do what they tell you to do.”
