Kal Yafai may get the fight he has been looking for June 23
Former #1 pound-for-pound fighter and multi-weight champion Roman Gonzalez says he’s in talks to face WBA super flyweight champion Kal Yafai.
This news shouldn’t come as a surprise as 3kingsboxing.com previously reported months ago this fight was a possibility.
After suffering back-to-back losses to WBC super flyweight champion Sirisaket Sor Rungvisai in 2017, Gonzalez returned in September 2018 and scored a fifth round stoppage over Moses Fuentes.
Yafai is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Irasel Gonzalez in his fourth defense of the WBA regular title.
If made, this fight will surely be entertaining and competitive. It’ll be interesting to see what Gonzalez has left against a prime champion.
