Jermell Charlo On Billy Joe Saunders: “He’s Complete Trash Of A Fighter”

Jermell (Not Jermall) Charlo and Billy Joe Saunders Go At It!

Yes the title is correct! WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (33-1, 17KO) and WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (29-0, 14KO) get in to a “cyber-tussle” over social media.

One would expect WBC middleweight champion and twin to Jermell, Jermall Charlo to be the one beefing with the British champ. Especially since Charlo recently expressed aspirations to move to super middleweight and take a belt from one of the division’s champions after his fight against #1 contender Sergey Derevyanchenko in September. However, this is not the case.

The twin who is two-divisions below Saunders had some harsh words to describe the skill-set of the WBO champion in an interview.

“Billy Joe Saunders…a complete trash of a fighter to me!”

Of course, this warranted a response from the brash Saunders, who struck promptly!

The younger and smaller Charlo twin has a reputation of going at anyone who seems to want a “war of words.” Therefore, he would not let Saunders’ response go unoticed.

BUT WHY?

The problem here is…why the hell did a question about a fighter who is two divisions higher than Jermell get asked of him? If anything, it would be Jermall who should be asked how he feels about Saunders. The two have campaigned in the same division before and may be in the same division again soon.

While this is always fun to cover, the likely-hood of these two fighting is very small. Jermell Charlo is set for a three-belt unification in September against Jeison Rosario at 154 pounds.

Saunders was leading the running for the Canelo Alvarez lottery ticket all summer. That is until he pulled out of negotiations for a September clash citing not having enough time to prepare. He is now looking to return next year for his second title defense.

Although, this is boxing! If the beef is eventually cooked and seasoned just right, we could see these two possibly at a catchweight in the future.

Depends on how bad the two would want this fight!
