Team Crawford Calls Bullshit On Gary Russell

As it’s often said, there are two sides to every story. This is exactly the case with WBC world featherweight champion “Mr” Gary Russell Jr (31-1, 18 KO’s) and WBO world welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (36-0, 27 KO’s). While appearing on a recent episode of Barbershop Conversations, Russell gave his version of a very bad afternoon of sparring from their amateur days.

In the re-telling, the tale concluded with Mr. supposedly having socked Crawford in the mouth, to which he had zero response. Well it didn’t take long for Team Crawford to get wind of this story and both Bud and his chief second, Brian “Bomac” McIntyre to retort via their social media.

TELL IT LIKE IT WAS!

While McIntyre did not say that there was no validity to what Russell had stated, he did make it known that there was more to the story that was obviously being omitted.

YOUR TIME IS COMING

For his part, Terence Crawford appeared to take the whole incident very lightheartedly. Rather than coming back with anger, fire and brimstone, Bud maintained a brisk and overall cheery tone in his rebuttal.

While Crawford was overtly civil, he did leave the door open that he would revisit the matter at a later date. When that happens, if it happens, it will be interesting to see if he adds any more details to the story that Russell unearthed. Or, even more doubtful, to see if Bud takes up Mr. on his call out to a 147lbs showdown.
