Jermell Charlo seems to become Undisputed Champion at junior middleweight!
WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (33-1, 17KOs) has a message for the rest of the champions at junior middleweight!
“I’m going straight for all of the belts!”
In a Facebook live, the two-time WBC champion discussed a variety of things. In particular, his desire and main focus on becoming undisputed champion.
“I’m going straight for all of the belts, if you follow my mojo you know.
“You know what I mean by that. It would make no sense for me to fight anybody else in the weight division, other than taking all of the belts.
“Clean them out, let me do what I want because I’ve been fighting for so long in boxing I deserve that.
“I’m going to step up my game and invest in my career and go get all of the belts because that’s a dream come true for me.”
Back in December of 2019, Charlo regained his title with an eleventh round knockout over Tony Harrison in their entertaining rematch. The previous year, Charlo would be on the wrong side of a questionable decision loss.
Now with the Harrison chapter behind him, his goals are clear: unify or nothing! The two other champions in the division – unified champion Jeison Rosario (20-1-1, 14KOs) and WBO champion Patrick Texiera (31-1, 22KOs), are the only fighters that stand in his way of fulfilling his childhood dream.
Rosario pulled off a major upset by knocking out former unified champion Julian “J Rock” Williams in four rounds, while Texiera upset highly touted contender Carlos Adames in a terrific, action-packed fight for the title vacated by Jaime Munguia.
As usual, politics will play a part in whether any of these fights get made, as boxing is currently in a standstill due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has put everything on hold.
