Marie Eve Dicaire and Natasha Jonas hype their upcoming November 12 bout

THE JOURNEY OF TWO CHAMPIONS

Jonas’ journey to the top has been a difficult one. Before becoming a champion, she was turned away by two different champions. First she was defeated by former WBC junior lightweight champion Terri Harper. A second failed opportunity would come by defeat to undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor.

Jonas seems to have found a groove at junior welterweight. The unified champion took won back-to-back title fights against Chris Namus for the vacant WBO title, and WBC champion Patricia Berghult in 2022.

Dicaire won the IBF title by defeating Namus in 2018. She made four successful title defenses before being defeated by Claressa “T-rex” Shields for the undisputed crown in 2021. The 36-year-old Canadian did not have to wait long to regain the title. Shortly afterward, Shields would move up and Dicaire would move in to capture the vacant belt by a career-first knockout against Cynthia Lozano.

NEXT STOP: UNDISPUTED

The winner between Jonas and Dicaire will fight for undisputed, which brings us to newly crowned WBA champion Terri “Belter” Harper. Harper defeated Hannah Rankin for the title and will be paying close attention to the results of this fight.

United Kingdom fans will undoubtedly be cheering for Jonas as they want to see her and Harper settle things in a 2020 rematch that saw Harper victorious.

All the action will air live on Sky Sports at the Manchester Arena, in the United Kingdom on November 12.
