Marie Eve Dicaire brutalizes Cynthia Lozano in seven rounds!

Former IBF women’s junior middleweight champion Marie Eve Dicaire (18-1, 1KO) made a successful ring return against Cynthia “Canelita” Lozano (9-1, 7KOs) on December 17. The two ladies battled for the vacant IBF title. Ironically, is the same belt Dicaire just surrendered to Claressa Shields earlier this year in March in their undisputed title fight. After suffering her first career defeat and going home strapless, the former champion recaptured her long-time title.

If we go by records, Canelita has dynamite in her hands, having stopped all but two of her nine opponents. However, it was not enough to take out Dicaire tonight.

BRUTALITY

In a sloppy opening round, Lozano came out ultra aggressive looking to land hard leather on the former champion. However, Dicaire, a slick boxer, quickly nullified the Mexican challenger. In doing so, she would counter with hard left hooks that often stopped the outclassed challenger in her tracks.

Round three was a dominant round for Dicaire as she constantly landed hard, counter left-hands. Swelling began to happen under the right eye of Lozano as a result of the overhand lefts from Dicaire.

Things went from bad to worse as Dicaire just continued to punish her overmatched opponent. When the middle rounds arrived, Dicaire introduced her right hand to the face and head of Lozano, who by this point was completely ineffective.

Round seven would prove to be the finale as the former champion turned up the heat and punishment. After landing three consecutive hard, straight left-hands, the corner of Canelita had rightfully seen enough and threw in the towel. Just like that, Dicaire is a two-time IBF junior middleweight champion and recorded her first career professional knockout victory in the process.

Overall, Lozano proved not to be a worthy challenger. Her lack of a jab, foot and head movement, and ring IQ doomed her from the moment the bell rang.
