Jorge Linares to explore options after Golden Boy deal expires
Three-divisional champion and current junior welterweight contender Jorge Linares may be on the move after his contract with Golden Boy expires.
The long-time Golden Boy fighter has stated that after his January 18 fight, he’ll start exploring his options. This news may come as a surprise to some, but not many.
Back in May, Linares battled with top Pound-For-Pound fighter Vasyl Lomachenko. In that fight he dropped his opponent, before succumbing to a brutal liver shot in the tenth round.
Since that moment, Linares has been keen on securing a rematch. However, with Golden Boy now aligned with DAZN and Lomachenko with Top Rank on ESPN, things may be a little more difficult this go-round.
Another possible opponent he mentioned is WBC junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez. Ramirez is also under the Top Rank banner and is currently tied up in a tough match-up against Jose Zepeda in February.
A rematch with Lomachenko or a fight with Ramirez would be interesting and one fans would get behind.
Regardless of what happens it’s clear Linares is looking to fight the best available to become a four division champion!
