Joshua/Parker Unification Deal Reached
3KingsBoxing.com first reported last month that a deal between WBA/IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and WBO champion Joseph Parker could be finalized this month. We have learned this morning that an agreement has been reached for the fight to take place in March.
The two sides have spent weeks going back and forth bickering and posturing in the media on who should receive what percentage. From 55/45 to 60/40 and most recently the 65/35 number that seemed to stall the negotiations temporarily. According to a source within Matchroomthe agreed upon number looks to be 67/33 which in my opinion is more than fair.
Joshua is coming off a stoppage win over Carlos Takam back in October. He had said he would like to fight three times in 2018.
Parker was last in the ring against Hughie Fury, cousin of former champion Tyson Fury. Parker won a decision in a fight some felt he could’ve just as easily went to Fury.
The winner of this fight will be in the driver’s seat when time to negotiate with WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
