Thurman returns April 14th at The Barclays
3KingsBoxing.com has learned that Keith Thurman will return to the ring in April. He will face former WBO welterweight champion Jesse Vargas at the Barclays Center in New York on April 14th sources told 3Kings.
Thurman has been out of the ring since March when he defeated previously unbeaten Danny Garcia in a welterweight unification bout in which Thurman’s WBA belt and Garcia’s WBC title were on the line.
He since had to have surgery to repair his elbow and says he is still undergoing rehabilitation. He had to have bone spurs removed that were floating loose in the joint. He also got married duringhis time awayfrom the sport and did some traveling.
Vargas just fought Friday night in his first bout since losing his title to superstar Manny Pacquiao in November 2016. Vargas, 28-2 10KO, who was previously with Top Rank suffered his only other loss to Timothy Bradley in June 2015. He is fresh off a lopsided 10rd unanimous decision victory over Aaron Herrera on the PBC on FS1 card on the 15th.
