Richard Torrez Jr. & Kelvin Davis Stay Undefeated
If you went to the bathroom or looked down to pick something up, you missed the fight. It was over that fast! Heavyweight Ricard Torrez Jr. (3-0, 3KO) a 2020 Olympic Silver medalist, came out attacking like a lion against Marco Antonio Canedo (4-3, 2KO). He landed a powerful straight left hand that sent Canedo to the canvas.
Despite getting up, Canedo was sent back down face first after a decapitating left hand followed by a right hook. It was a scary moment as the crowd waited to make sure Canedo was OK and cheered as he walked to the back to get examined by the doctor. Torrez’ power and aggressive fighting style continue to serve him well.
KELVIN DAVIS PUTS ON A DOMINATING PERFORMANCE
Junior welterweight prospect Kelvin “Nite Nite” Davis (6-0, 4KO) came close to living up to the nickname after two brutal knockdowns against Sebastian Gabriel Chaves (5-5, 2KO). The older brother of 2020 Olympic Silver medalist Keyshawn Davis used that six foot height and 74 inch reach advantage masterfully by building everything off the jab.
Nite Nite gauged distance throughout the fight and landed a crisp compact left hook to the body. Winning the fight by shutout on all judge’s scorecards 60-52, Davis has the potential to be a force in the division in the future.
