Teraji Hints a Unification Following Impressive Win Over Rosales
The vacant WBC flyweight title was up for grabs as Kenshiro “The Amazing Boy” Teraji faced “El Latigo” Cristofer Rosales at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. Teraji is one of the best in boxing’s lower-weight divisions. However, after becoming a unified champion at junior flyweight, it was becoming increasingly difficult to make weight. Given that reality, Teraji believes that the flyweight division is his future.
He battled Rosales, an old warhorse and true veteran. The fighter from Nicaragua was on a mission to become a two-time WBC flyweight champion.
BIGGER AND BETTER
Teraji (24-1, 15 KOs) was sharp from the opening bell. In there against a taller and longer opponent, he did a terrific job of using his speed and footwork. He did a good job creating openings to land those stiff left jabs and combinations to the head and body. With seventy seconds to go in round three, he wobbled Rosales (37-7, 22 KOs) with a right hand to the chin.
The Amazing Boy’s fistic brilliance continued throughout the contest as El Latigo summoned no answers for Teraji’s arsenal. By round six, the challenger was bleeding from the nose. Things evolved to the point that Rosales was taking a beating. At the start of round eleven, the ringside doctors examined the Nicaraguan’s nose and waved the fight over.
It was a spectacular performance from Teraji, now a two-division world champion. During the post-fight interview, the 30-year-old strongly suggested that plans could be underway for a flyweight unification battle in 2025.
