Lewis Crocker Swiftly Calls Out Conor Benn for Welterweight Bout

Irishman Lewis “The Croc” Crocker (22-0, 11 KOs) has realized his lifelong dream of becoming a world champion. Now the newly crowned IBF welterweight title-holder, Crocker already has his sights set on what he calls a dream fight—an all-UK showdown with England’s Conor Benn.

In his most recent outing, Crocker battled rival Paddy Donovan (14-2, 11 KOs) in a rematch at Windsor Park in Belfast, where a raucous home crowd roared him on. Crocker dropped Donovan in rounds two and five en route to a hard-fought split-decision victory (114-113, 114-112 Crocker; 115-111 Donovan) to claim the vacant IBF crown. Though Donovan rallied and controlled much of the second half, Crocker’s early knockdowns proved decisive. After the win, he wasted no time in calling out Benn.

“I think a massive fight for the UK fans is Conor Benn. I have big respect for Conor Benn. I think he’s an incredible fighter. If me and him go at it, it would be super entertaining for the fans. I think, from the fans point of view, it’s a massive fight for the UK. It would be an honor to share the ring with him.”

The appeal is obvious. Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) is one of the biggest ticket sellers in British boxing, and a clash with Crocker has the makings of a blockbuster. Whether staged at London’s O2 Arena or back at Windsor Park in Belfast, the matchup promises both, a huge crowd and major financial upside.

For now, Benn’s attention is on his November 15 middleweight rematch with rival Chris Eubank Jr. But win or lose, many pundits expect Benn to return to welterweight in 2026. If that happens, Crocker will be waiting to welcome him back, with a world title on the line.
