Liam Smith vs Chris Eubank Jr Rematch Headed to Manchester on June 17

The anticipated rematch between Liam “Beefy” Smith (32-3-1, 19 KOs) and Chris Eubank Jr (32-2, 23 KOs) is signed and set. They will square off on June 17 at AO Arena Manchester. In their first battle, in January 2023, Smith won by a fourth-round stoppag. Beefy fully intends to have his hands raised in victory once again.

In their previous encounter, Eubank Jr had the better of it for the first three. The 33-year-old worked well behind the jab, controlling the distance and landing the cleaner and harder punches. But in the fourth, a right hand from Smith rocked Eubank Jr to his boots and put him down. After getting up on wobbly legs, Eubank Jr was knocked down for a second time by a series of shots. After the second knockdown, the referee stepped in and waved the fight.

PROMISING MORE OF THE SAME

Things were understandably contentious as the two warriors spoke to the boxing media at a press event to announce the fight. Eubank Jr argued that their first fight was a quick stoppage and suggested that the cause of his demise was the result of an illegal elbow, not a legitimate punch. Smith bitterly protested those accusations. He argued that Eubank Jr was out of his wits and was too hurt to continue.

As far as this upcoming contest, Smith feels more confident than ever. Feeling that he has the advantage mentally, the former WBO junior middleweight champion feels he will stop Eubank Jr for a second time.

“He’s got a lot of demons to come over . . . I believe it’s the same outcome. I believe it’s a Liam Smith win, and again, I know I can hurt him both ways. So I believe it’s the same outcome . . . I’m one hundred percent confident I’ll beat him again.”

Can Smith back up his words and secure another victory? He’s determined to do just that in front of what promises to be a raucous crowd in Manchester.
