Jorge Linares Set To Return
3KingsBoxing.com has learned that WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares is likely face Filipino Mercito Gesta next in Los Angeles in late January or February. Linares was said to be in negotiations with Luke Campbell for rematch of their September bout in which Linares won a very close fight.
Gesta, who now resides in San Diego, is a former world title challenger, he lost to former IBF champion Miguel Vasquez in 2012. He is coming off a string of victories since that loss with one draw.
Golden Boy, Linares promoter had tried unsuccessfully to land a fight against both WBO champion Terry Flanagan and WBC champion Mikey Garcia.
