Menayothin Moves To 49-0

Menayothin Survives a Tough Challenge

WBC minimumweight world champion Wanheng Menayothin moved to 49-0, 17 KOs, after a twelve round unanimous decision over Tatsuya Fukuhara, 19-6-6, 7 KOs,on Saturdayafternoon in Thailand.

Fukuhara gave Wanheng all he could handle, but all three judges had the champ comfortably in front.Fukuhara had a good height advantage as he boasted several inches of advantage over the champion, but that was offset by the thickness of the champion, who always looks like an imposing fighter at 105lbs.

With the win, Wanheng matches Rocky Marciano at 49-0, and is just one win from tying Floyd Mayweather’s mark of 50-0.This was the Thai’s 8 successful defense of his title.

The fight that carries more interest than any in the 105lb divisionof course is a possible match-up between Menayothin and his stablemate Knockout CP Freshmart. It’s a fight the fans want but not likely to happen anytime soon.
