Jorge Linares Labels Ryan Garcia An Internet Champion
Three-division world champion Jorge Linares (47-5, 29KOs) is eager to get back in the ring. However, he isn’t interested in a Ryan Garcia fight unless Garcia gets a title. He also insists that the young prospect is the internet world champion.
THOUGHTS ON RYAN GARCIA
“He’s a good prospect but you know, you never know in boxing. I’m here today and maybe tomorrow, you never know. But if he wants to fight with me, first he needs to get one of these belts. If he truly wants to fight with me, he first needs to win one of these, a world title.
I’m a four-time world champion in three different divisions. He is the internet champion. He’s still a long way from winning one of these, but in the case he wins one, then now we’re talking. Let’s call our promoter (Golden Boy) and we can do that fight.”
EDDIE HEARN CHIMES IN
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn chimed in and offered both Linares and Garcia an opportunity to fight WBC lightweight Devin Haney (24-0, 15KOs). Linares was more than open to taking on that fight compared to Garcia, who replied back that Linares was going to be his first opponent once boxing resumes.
Needless to say that there are a lot of moving parts that’ll eventually get settled once boxing is up and running again.
