Lindolfo Delgado Nabs KO Victory Over Carlos Sanchez
Junior welterweight contender Lindolfo Delgado (20-0, 15KO) remained perfect en route to stopping Carlos “El Tiburon” Sanchez (25-3, 19KO).
In the early portion of the fight, El Tiburon’s movement and high punch output kept Delgado at bay, who was looking to counter off the back foot. He did a good job of punching in between the punches, hitting the undefeated contender with repeated right hands.
In the middle rounds, Delgado came alive and started to let those hands go. He worked behind the jab while marching forward and landed a sharp right hand that dropped Sanchez in round five.
As the fight continued, he turned up the pressure by mixing up the attack and landing uppercuts and more hard right hands. In round seven, he landed a picture-perfect right hook that sent Sanchez face-first to the canvas.
The referee started to count before realizing Sanchez couldn’t finish the fight and waved it off. It was a good win for the #10 WBC contender, who proved to be ready for that next step towards fighting for a title. Moving forward, Delgado will have to learn to start early with his offense and be more defensive-minded.
