Sergey Lipinets-John Molina in play for July 20!
3kingsboxing.com has learned former IBF junior welterweight champion Sergey Lipinets (15-1, 11KOs) will likely face longtime lightweight and junior welterweight contender John Molina (30-8, 24KOs).
If finalized, the bout will take place on the under-card of the welterweight showdown between WBA super welterweight champion Keith Thurman and regular champion Manny Pacquiao.
Lipinets is coming off an absolute war and Fight of the Year candidate with retired two-division champion Lamont Peterson. In that fight Lipinets scored a tenth round stoppage.
Back in February, Molina battled it out with former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa in a fight many people thought he won. However, he was on the wrong-side of the decision.
This fight has title implications for Lipinets, who continues to his winning ways in hopes of another opportunity. Molina has been relegated to gatekeeper status at this point in his career. However, a win here could keep his slim chances for another title opportunity alive.
This fight will undoubtedly produce fireworks once the bell rings. 3kingsboxing.comwill continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
