Lomachenko Moving To 135?

Loma Expected To Move To 135?

This Saturdaynight boxing purists aroundthe world will be treatedto a dream come true. Vasyl Lomachenko will defend his WBO super featherweight title against Guillermo Rigondeaux but this is likely to bethe Ukrainian’s last fight at 130lbs.

Lomachenko has long stated his desire to continue to challenge himself and believesthe lightweight division is the place to do that. According to Lomachenko’s promoter Bob Arum that is what his fighter will do:

“Yes indeed. Lomachenko has said he will move up to 135lbs in 2018”

There is still fights at 130lb with guys like Miguel Berchelt, Alberto Machado and a possible rematch with Orlando Salido. With names like Mikey Garcia, Jorge Linares and Robert Easter Jr it’s hardto argue against him moving up.

A fight with any of the above mentioned lightweight champions would be sure to elicit some buzz. The Garcia fight has been talked about in the media and on boxing forums for a year now so we know it has the potential to be huge.

Whether Lomachenko does move to 135 or not is yet to be determined for certain and right now it better be the farthest thing from his mind because in just 5 days he has arguably the biggest challenge of his life ahead of him in the Cuban super bantamweight champion.
