Montana Love looks towards Josh Taylor & Gervonta Davis

In his latest in-ring effort, super lightweight fighter Montana “Too Pretty” Love (16-0-1, 8 KO’s) scored the best win of his career. He did so by beating Ivan “The Beast” Baranchyk (20-3, 13 KO’s) by way of seventh round TKO. There is no question that Baranchyk was Love’s most accomplished opponent to date. This is why it was so impressive to watch Too Pretty easily outbox the Russian for large periods of time.

This is not to say that the Cleveland native did not have his issues. On a number of occasions, he was too content to celebrate when he should have been attacking. He also was clipped and wobbled a few times during the contest. In the end though, Love was able to discombobulate Baranchyk with a fight-ending left hook. Unsurprisingly, Love was more than ready to start calling names out during his post-fight interview.

SHOOTING FOR THE BIG TIME

Ahead of the prizefight, Too Pretty was calling two names while putting more emphasis on one of them. The first being undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor, and regular WBA super lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. Yet, there is no denying that Love has put more word service into hyping up a bout with Tank Davis. This should not be all that surprising.

“Strap me the fuck up man! We been working hard. We want Josh Taylor and Gervonta Davis!”

For one, Davis is the American fighter and the one more well known in the states. Outside of that, Davis and Love already have a bit of history together. The two have shared the ring as sparring partners in the past. In fact, in the aftermath of one of their sessions, some footage was leaked and animosity was born. Davis was convinced that Too Pretty had put the imagery out there and was none too pleased by it. With this storyline, there should be a good pre-fight hype build up if the fight is ever made.

Of the two, Davis probably is the better option though. This is simply because Josh Taylor has already snubbed a potential fight with Davis. In the undisputed champion’s opinion, Davis did not own a real belt and therefore was not on his radar. Given his feelings on the subject, it’s hard to believe that he would seriously entertain a dustup with Love.
