Luis Arias Coming to Shatter Erickson Lubin On Fight Night!
Two years ago, super welterweight Luis Arias (20-3-1, 9 KO’s) stunned the boxing world with an action-packed upset win over Jarrett Hurd. If given his way, this is exactly what he’ll do on Saturday June 24 when he goes head-to-head with Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (24-2, 17 KO’s). Despite Lubin entering the prizefight directly off a knockout loss to Sebastian Fundora, he is still the favorite to prevail.
While he certainly doesn’t care for being written off, Arias has learned to use the nay-saying for motivation. Following his unexpected win over Hurd, Arias would go on to lose to Vaughn Alexander by split decision. Then, in his only match of 2022, Arias slid back into the win column by claiming a unanimous decision win over Jimmy Williams,
O.K. CORRAL OF THE ALAMO?
The victory over Williams is largely fool’s gold, however. This is because Williams was coming off two losses prior to facing Arias and has lost three more matches since facing Arias. In fact, of these six consecutive losses, Arias was only one of two that actually went the distance.
As Lubin is fresh off a grueling loss, we do need to see what he has left in the tank. But it’s almost a guarantee that The Hammer is bringing more to the table than Jimmy Williams. So, once again, the real question is: does Arias have another trick up his sleeve, or has he been reduced to a mere stepping stone?
