Magdaleno pulls out of highly anticipated return bout
Former WBO super-bantamweight champion Jessie Magdaleno (25-1, 18 KOs) won’t be fighting former featherweight champion Rico Ramos (29-5, 14 KOs) September 28.
The 26 year-old was originally to make his return on the undercard of a non-title bout featuring IBF super-middleweight champion Jose Uzcategui.
We last saw Magdaleno in a losing effort to now WBO champion Isaac Dogboe on April 28. He has had issues with pulling out of fights before in the past.
In 2014, he pulled out of a fight against Erik Ruiz after learning his Las Vegas home was burglarized.
Then again in 2015 and 2017, he pulled out of fights against Rey Perez and Cesar Juarez citing hand injuries as the cause.
It’s unclear as to why Magdaleno has pulled out this time. Many pundits thought he would move up a division after rumors of trouble making weight for the Dogboe fight surfaced.
The former world champion will have to figure out what the next move will be if he plans on making another run at a world title.
