Marc Castro Wins by Unanimous Decision Over George Acosta
In a rather spirited fight, super featherweight boxer Marc Castro (13-0, 8 KO’s) prevailed over George “El Yuyu” Acosta (17-3, 3 KO’s) by way of unanimous decision. Over the course of the first several rounds, Castro and Acosta tore into one another, generally foregoing any time of a legitimate feel-out period. Despite their aggression, no one was seriously caught or injured.
As they waged war, Castro was the sharpest in the ring. This was best illustrated in the seventh when Castro buzzed El Yuyu and briefly hammered him in the corner. Acosta would survive the period and the next.
Yet, in the seventh round, while going in to punch simultaneously, the two collided heads in the middle of the ring. As result, Acosta was saddled with a badly swelling eye which prompted the ring doctor to near immediately call a halt to the action.
Once the fight was taken to the scorecards, it was revealed that Castro won by a wide unanimous decision to the tune of 70-63 on all the judges’ ledgers.
