Savannah Marshall Wants Claressa Shields in 2020!

While on the biggest stage of her fledgling professional career, Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall performed in grand fashion.

In against the game Brazilian fighter Daniele Bastieri, Marshall scored an impressive fifth round TKO. Although she came to fight, Bastieri couldn’t contend with the Silent Assassin’s high work rate or her physical length.

Fighting on the Luke Campbell v Vasiliy Lomachenko undercard was its own sweet treat!

With the win, Marshall is now one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a super middleweight champion. The current champions in the division are Alicia Napolean Espinosa (WBA), Franchon Crews Dezum (WBC) and Elin Cederroos (IBF).

If all goes according to her self-appointed plan Marshall will dethrone one the aforementioned champions in the beginning of 2020.

With that accomplished, she would then like to drop down to middleweight and challenge the undisputed Claressa “T-rex” Shields. The Silent Assassin is confident that both are very doable plans.

“It wouldn’t be this year, like I said, I’m a big super middleweight. I want to win a title at super middleweight and have a crack at her [Claressa Shields] at middle.”

Peter Fury, Marshall’s chief second is also of the mind state that they can land the Shields bout next year. While backstage following the prizefight with Bastieri, Fury took the time to air his thoughts on the matter with iFL TV.

“[In regards to a fight with Claressa Shields] Definitely sometime in 2020. We’ve got a plan for Savannah. Hopefully a world title at super middle this year and then we’ll have a look at what happens in 2020.

“Whether she defends that title or goes straight into that. But for me, that’s sometime in 2020, mid to back end I’d say.”

Let’s see if Marshall can maintain her winning ways in the meantime, because without question, the current reigning super middleweight champions will not give up their belts without a fight!
