Mikeala Mayer accepts the challenge from Terri Harper
WBO Junior Lightweight champion Mikaela Mayer (14-0, 5ko) has been wanting to spank that ass on divisional rival WBC champion Terri Harper (11-0-1, 6ko) for quite a while. It seems she may get that chance after hearing the WBC champions warning.
THE HISTORY
It is no secret that the WBO champion has been eager to get a piece of Harper. She has been in pursuit long before making former WBO champion Ewa Brodnicka (19-1, 2ko) feel a few pounds lighter in defeat on Halloween night. The public social media back and forth with members of team Harper produced some mic-dropping moments.
Furthermore, it was the WBC champion that once told the former 2016 Olympian to “Get a belt first.”
THE TIME COULD BE NOW
After taking care of her business, Mayer was waiting to see if the rival champion would do the same. Harper was making the second defense of her title and dominated en route to an eighth-round stoppage over undefeated Katharina “Katy” Thanderz (13-1, 2ko). Next, and just like clockwork, Mayer took to social media reminding the WBC champion she wants next.
Wait, there is more.
During the post-fight interview with Matchroom Boxing, the WBC champion was asked about a possible unification fight with her divisional rival WBO champion, and she delivered a message that was heard loudly.
“I am coming for you Mayer. Slowly, but surely we will get there, and I will be punching you in your face very soon.”
Okay, by now, we all know what was going to happen next. If you bet your entire life savings that the WBO champion was going to respond, then proceed to the window and collect your winnings.
Mayer is just as relentless on social media as she is in the ring. If you put a challenge out there in the ether to her, be prepared for the challenge to be accepted coupled with a sick burn.
