Clara Lescurat Successfully Defends New Title From Naylea Gil Sanabia!

On October 28, WBA super flyweight champion Clara Lescurat (8-0, 3KO) kept her perfect record intact after dominating challenger “La Nina” Naylea Gil Sanabia (11-5-1, 5KO). This victory clears the path for a possible unification against the IBF champion Micaela Lujan

THE CHAMPION TOOK CONTROL EARLY

The fight started with both women throwing quick, hard punch combinations. La Nina was up on those toes landing the overhand right and double hooks to the body. Lescurat’s defense was on point early in the fight as she avoided a good chunk of those big shots and landed with sharp right-hand counters.

As the fight continued, the champion used her footwork to dodge punches and landed several counter right and left hooks. The challenger found success with hard body shots and caught Lescurat with solid, straight right hands.

Yet, Lescurat quickly regained control of the middle rounds with that counter right hook that couldn’t miss. Despite suffering a cut over the left eye in round seven from a clash of heads, the Argentine champion boxed beautifully until the final bell.

POSSIBLE UNIFICATION AFTER ANOTHER DOMINATING PERFORMANCE

One judge scored it 98-92, and two had it 99-91, as Lescurat retained the title. With this fight in the rearview mirror, it’s time to look toward unification.

The WBA champion has been marching toward unification with Lujan since winning the title on June 4. Fans are eager to see the two Argentinians step into the ring and see who is the country’s best fighter.
