Rob McCracken just wants Anthony Joshua to get the job done!
Everyone in the camp of former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (22-1, 21KOs) is feeling immense pressure ahead of British star’s shot at revenge against the man who pulled arguably the biggest upset of 2019, Andy Ruiz (33-1, 22KOs)!
Joshua, a 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist isn’t a stranger to pressure filled situations. In April 2016 he arrived on the world title stage with a resounding second round stoppage victory over former IBF champion Charles Martin (27-2-1, 24KOs).
He would then follow that up by defeating and sending the former heavyweight ruler Wladimir Klitschko (64-5, 53KOs) into retirement with a brutal eleventh round stoppage in 2017. He overcome a middle round knockdown where he was severely hurt and on the brink of his first career defeat, to win the WBA heavyweight title.
On March 31 he would take on then WBO heavyweight champion Joesph Parker (26-2, 20KOs). He would box his way past Parker to unify the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles winning a unanimous decision.
JOSHUA’S TRAINERS THOUGHTS!
His trainer Rob McCracken doesn’t care how his fighter gets the job done, as long as he succeeds come fight night in Saudi Arabia. He told Skysportsboxing.com the following.
“I don’t care if he wins on points, I really don’t care. I think he has to stick to the tactics, I think he has to use his advantages and get the win.
“He got the win using his tactics smartly against Parker. I think he’s got something, not the same, but similar little differences. But certainly he has to stick to the tactics and not worry too much about the crowd and the excitement of the rounds.
“Just get out there and start boxing and get the win using your height and reach. Use your advantages that’s how we’ll see it.”
That certainly would be the smart thing to do. However we’ve seen numerous times that fights don’t always go as planned.
For Joshua, will he be able to bite down on his mouthpiece and go to war like he did against Klitschko? Or will he yet again crumble under the pressure of Ruiz who’s made it no secret that he loves to fight?
We all eagerly wait to see what a once defeated Joshua has to offer in this high stakes pressure moment!
