Eddie Hearn Wants To Make Deontay Wilder vs Dillian Whyte For 2023

The heavyweight division has some big fights that can take place, and fans would want to see them. While boxing world is waiting on the undisputed bout between unified champion Oleksandr Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury, Matchroom Boxing Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed plans he has for former WBC champ Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-2-1, 41KO).

The boxing community has been revisiting some old fights that would would still intrigue fans. The obvious choice is Wilder vs rival and former unified champion Anthony Joshua. Yet, some fans have resurfaced a fight with arch-nemesis Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (28-3, 19KO).

In 2018, Wilder was offered around seven or eight million by Hearn to fight Whyte, who at the time was the then champion’s #1 contender.  The Bronze Bomber turned down the offer, but in fairness, he had his sights on fighting Joshua for undisputed.

THE BOMBSHELL OFFER REVEALED

Fast forward to 2022, and fans are still interested in seeing them fight. In an interview on the DAZN boxing show, Hearn dropped a bombshell claiming they recently sent team Wilder an offer to fight Whyte.

“I had an offer for Deontay Wilder recently to go out to the middle east. I just reached out to his team and said look. I have something we should really discuss because this is a huge offer.

“I never even heard back, and it baffles me like, I don’t even know if he was told about that email.”

Hearn revealed the name of the fighter on the offer sheet.

“Dillian Whyte, that’s the fight we want to make for early 2023. […] Maybe Deontay Wilder just doesn’t want to deal with us, and that’s fine. But as long as he’s aware of what he’s turning down. Then I respect that.”

Hearn doubled down on not knowing whether or not Wilder was made aware of the offer, and finished by saying the money to make a big fight with the former champion is on the table.

“The reality is the money is there to fight Dillian Whyte, the money is there to fight AJ. Those are the two biggest fights for him in the sport so hopefully, we can open those discussions.”

Wilder has a showdown in his return fight against tough veteran Robert Helenius on October 15. So perhaps they are focusing on that task at hand and providing he is victories, a phone call goes out to engage in talks of a showdown with Whyte.
